Glo announces Timaya as brand ambassador

Telecoms data grandmaster and top supporter of entertainment in the country, Globacom, has announced one of Nigeria’s most popular musicians, Inetimi Alfred Odon, popularly known as Timaya, as a brand ambassador.

Globacom announced the crooner as the latest member of its exclusive list of brand ambassadors. The telecoms firm disclosed in a statement that Timaya was signed on as the latest Glo brand ambassador last week.

The new Glo ambassador is a singer, songwriter and producer reputed for his flexibility with the various genres of contemporary music. He has been known to switch expertly from raga, hip-hop, dancehall to afro beat. He has several highly rated albums to his credit.

After going solo in 2005, Timaya dropped the hit single Dem Mama, followed by the albumTrue Story which he released the following year. Having discovered himself, the young musician later pioneered the hip hop group, Dem Mama Soldiers and went ahead to release some other hits including Upgrade, LLNP, Gift and Grace and De Rebirth.

Timaya has won several awards including four Headies Awards and one Nigerian Music Award.He was appointed a Peace Ambassador by the Inter-religious and International Federation for World Peace (IIFWP). 

The organization explained that the musician was given the award because of his exemplary conduct. Dr. Hak Ja Haan Moon, co-founder of the IIFWP, stated that he is “one of those individuals whose lives exemplify the ideal of living for the sake of others, and who dedicate themselves to practices which promote the founding ideals of the IIFWP.”

Globacom has the cream of Nigeria’s showbiz stars on its list of brand ambassadors. Musicians MI, Omawumi, Reekado Banks, Ego, Korede Bello, Hadizah Blell (Di’ja); actors Patience Ozokwor, popularly called Mama G, Yvonne Nelson, Nadia Buhari and stand-up comedians Basketmouth and Bovi Ugboma are some of them.

Brides storms out of wedding venue in Delta (photos)

There was confusion in Delta state yesterday, Saturday October 29, as a wedding reception ended half-way,when the bride stormed out of the programme venue saying she was not interested in the union anymore.

Dailypost reports that the bride, who ran away from the reception venue, was followed by the husband in an effort to bring her back and save face. The incident, which occurred at Udu local government area of the state, created serious scene in the area. The husband was seen begging the bride to reconsider her decision just at the popular Orhunwhorhun road, while a large crowd watched.

Johnson Iyaye Rotimi, designer behind menswear brand Johnson Johnson, proposed to his girlfriend Beata, at Heineken Lagos Fashion & Design Week 2016 – and she said yes!

Na Wa O!! 3 Die In Mysterious Well In Anambra While Rescuer Receives Strange Slap (Full Details)

Residents of Hanik Street, Federal Housing Estate 3-3 Onitsha, Anambra State were in mournful mood, yesterday, following the death of three men in a borehole.
Eyewitnesses said the locally dug borehole developed fault and a young lady, who lived in the building, invited a man to recover the sumo for repairs.
Unfortunately, the man got trapped inside the hole while every effort to rescue him failed.
“They called for help and a fellow Calabar man went inside to help bring out his kinsman but got trapped as well.
“Some minutes later, an Hausa man living around the area also volunteered to enter the well to rescue the trapped men, although at the cost of N100, 000 which the residents agreed to pay but the man never came out .
“It would have been four dead bodies because a fourth person entered but he was lucky to come out alive though he complained of receiving a strange slap from the spirits inside the hole. He came out with swollen face and is in critical condition, presently,” our source stated.
When Daily Sun visited the compound, it was a rowdy scene as everybody wanted to catch a glimpse of what was happening.

After several efforts to rescue the trapped men, some residents resorted to prayers while others began incantations and offeredsacrifice of goats and fowls to appease the gods so that the victims would be brought out alive but all were in vain.
Residents said there was something mysterious about the borehole and that the entire scenario is yet to be unravelled.
Confirming the incident, Police Area Commander, Onitsha, Yahaya Abubakar, an Assistant Commissioner of Police told Daily Sun that through the combined efforts of security agents and other volunteers, the three dead bodies were recovered from the well and have been deposited in a nearby mortuary while investigation into the incident continues.

Man R*pes 12-Year-Old Girl To Coma After Taking ‘Man Power’ In Kaduna.

A 32 year-old man has been arrested by the Kaduna State Police Command, for allegedly raping a 14-year-old to coma.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Aliyu Usman, who made this disclosure to newsmen on Wednesday said the suspect, Hamza Abdullahi, who resides in Rigasa, Igabi Local Government Area of the state reportedly lured Faiza Salisu (14), to his room which is opposite the family house of the said victim where he had carnal knowledge of her.
It was gathered that the suspect before the incident took some sex enhancement drugs and in the process kept having sex with the victim until she collapsed.
When he sensed that the teenager was unconscious, the suspect quickly called a Tricycle driver to help in taking the victim to a bush closer to the house where he intended to dump her.
Luck, however, ran out on him when a relation of the victim saw her being carried into the tricycle.
She raised alarm which attracted passers-by. After seeing the condition of the victim, they descended on Hamza Abdullahi. The suspect was saved by men from Rigasa Police Divisional office, who took him away.
Speaking to the media at the police command, the suspect agreed to have had carnal knowledge of Faiza Salisu (victim), but said it was with her consent because he promised to reward her financially.
Hamza, who refuted the allegation that he took some sex enhancement drugs, said he only took ‘man power’ sold by some women around the area.

36-year-old Iman Ahmad Abdulati is thought to be the fattest woman alive.

The Egyptian woman who weighs 500kg has not left her home in 25 years as she cannot move from her bed or even roll over due to her size. She relies on family members to perform tasks like eating, changing clothes, cleaning and relieving herself.

Iman had been dealing with weight issues since birth. When she was born, she weighed 5kg and was diagnosed with elephantiasis – a parasitic infection that causes extreme swelling in a person’s limbs and arms.

At 11, she was too fat for her body to carry so she got around by crawling. She eventually dropped out of primary school and soon after, suffered a cerebral stroke which left her bedridden and made her conditions worse.

Since then, she had remained in her room, totally immobile and unable to do anything but lie in desperation as her weight continued to balloon.
Her family is now appealing to the Egyptian government for help.
